The Wolf Of The Wall Street

This american black comedy starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Jordan Belfort,  is directed by the living legend Martin Scorsese. At the age of 71 Martin Scorsese can still pull off masterpieces like he do always. And one keep wondering  what an incredible actor DiCaprio is.Give the man a fucking oscar before its too late.He deserves it.

Moving on to the movie I should say that this’s probably one of the awesomest black comedies ever. And a strong perhaps the strongest contender for the oscars.A witty story line  with an interesting and different narrative accompanied by the stellar performance of DiCaprio has made this film a must watch. But I should mention that the film is not for everyone.Parental Guidance is advised.Presence of drugs, sex and nudity are plenty in the film. The film also made it to the record charts for having the most instances of the “F” word, a fucking 569 times!!.But the movie is a masterpiece nonetheless. This is the fifth and for that matter the most dynamic collaboration between Martin and DiCaprio.Jonah Hill also plays a pivotal role in the film as Donnie Azoff.

Jordan Belfort is a young married man with a dream of becoming rich.So he get it to the right place, the Wall Street as a stock broker. His boss(Mathew McConaughey) introduces him to a particular lifestyle with plenty of casual sex and a hell lot of cocaine. And soon as he was getting a good fortune, the firm broke down after a Black Monday. He lost the job.On his wife’s advice he joined a small stock firm which sold cheap penny stocks. His aggressiveness  combined with the higher commission rate of penny stocks, soon earns him a small fortune. He befriends Donni Azoff  and go into the buisness together.Donnie is a salesman himself. He along with his other friends help Belfort to start “Stratton Oakmont”.Stratton Oakmont soon have a dream run and creates a huge fortune which is unlikely for a stock firm that just sells penny stocks.Oakmont made this possible by pump and dump scam.Pump and dump is a kind of stock fraud that involves artificially inflating the price of an owned stock through  misleading positive statements, in order to sell the cheaply purchased stock at a higher price. Once the operators of the scheme “dump” their overvalued shares, the price falls and investors lose their money. An article in Forbes acknowledges Jordan as the “Wolf of Wall Street”, and soon hundreds of dreamy young financiers flock to his company.

Jordan divorces his wife as he falls in love with the beautiful Naomi, who has her roots in Britain. They get married.Jordan along with his wife lead a sumptuous lifestyle that include hell lot of cocaine, ludes and other drugs. He owns huge mansions at many places, owns a chopper, a luxurious yacht named in his wife, top end cars and many more.Soon the FBI is after Jordan for investigation. The investigation is upon agent  Patrick Denham(Kyle Chandler).

Finally after an eventful journey Jordan gets detained by the FBI and offers him a reduced sentence if he give up his friends and other people involved in the stock fraud.Meanwhile Naomi divorces him.He is shocked. Jordan agrees to  wear a  wire to work. Jordan shows Donnie a note warning him about the wire. The note finds its way to Agent Denham and  Jordan gets arrested for breaching his deal with the FBI. The FBI raids and shuts down Stratton Oakmont.

Despite this , Jordan receives a reduced sentence for his court statement and is sentenced to 36 months time. After his release, Jordan makes a living hosting seminars on sales technique where he ask the audience  “Can yo sell me this pen”.

For those who haven’t watched the movie yet, I say go for it.Its fun ,witty and colorful. Its a pleasure to watch DiCaprio on screen.Jonah Hill has given us his career best performance as Donnie Azoff .In fact each character in the film has turned out to be so perfect.Hats off to the casting.
